Services

The services that we offer are designed to help individuals and groups create positive results in terms of the enrollment and student success of Colleges and Universities, and the people who work for success

THE SERVICES ARE:

Coaching Mentoring, Personal Development

For many years Ron and Dori have been involved in helping schools develop successful enrollment and student success programs. During this time there was a single element that always stood out: developing the skills, knowledge, and attitudes of the leader of the program. Much of our time was devoted to the development of that individual.

In this process we have generally worked with these areas:

  • Goal setting.
  • Development of a vision for enrollment management.
  • Enrollment and student success planning
  • Developing marketing and communication programs
  • Developing knowledge of research, using data, and analytics
  • Using qualitative research for immediate action.
  • Setting career and personal goals.
  • Developing the ability to work with people at all levels.
  • Developing leadership skills.
  • Working with faculty
  • Use of technology
  • Keeping up with new ideas.

An Example

Gene was one of the best faculty members at the college. A good teacher, worked well with students, and had good relationships with the faculty. He was also very aggressive and had managed to put some life in the chemistry program that had been floundering.

He was very surprised at the request of the president of the school. Would he be willing to take over the admissions office for the time being? The college had been on an enrollment decline and finally had to find new leadership. Jean had been recommended even though there was no enrollment experience to build on. His general qualities of work and effectiveness made him stand out. The president knew it would take a long time to find the right person and they needed to get moving now. The school offered to get him support in developing his knowledge of enrollment and he tried it out.

The result was a 100 student increase in the freshman class the very next fall. This was a result of Gene working with consultants to take advantage of his strengths and adding, from them, the knowledge.

The following are the general steps of the process of coaching:

  • Contact The Enrollment Management Center for discussion.
  • What are the goals and expectations the school or individual has for the process.
  • Describe how the coaching process addresses the schools or individuals needs.
  • Interview the candidate and testing.
  • Coaching is appropriate for this individual.
  • Recommendations
  • Tentative plan including goals, strategies, actions, and assessment.
  • Start project

Note that we are not able to work with some individuals in this process. We do not want schools investing resources in individuals we feel are not good candidates for this approach.
